About Dr. Sarah Mitchell

Creating a space for healing, growth, and authentic connection

My Journey to Therapy

I've always believed that everyone deserves a safe space to be heard, understood, and supported. After completing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Stanford University, I spent years working in various settings before opening my private practice in 2018.

My own experiences navigating life's challenges taught me the transformative power of therapy. I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help, and I'm honored to walk alongside my clients as they work toward healing and growth.

Beyond my professional training, I'm a person who values authenticity, compassion, and the belief that change is always possible. I'm here not as an expert with all the answers, but as a guide and partner in your journey.

My Therapy Philosophy

I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to tell you what to do or fix you—because you're not broken. Instead, I'm here to provide a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain new perspectives, and discover your own path forward.

My approach is integrative, drawing from various evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness techniques, and trauma-informed care. But more than any specific technique, I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is what creates lasting change.

I work collaboratively with each client, tailoring our sessions to your unique needs, goals, and experiences. Whether you're dealing with a specific challenge or seeking general personal growth, we'll work together at a pace that feels right for you.

Compassion

Everyone deserves kindness, especially from themselves

Authenticity

Real healing happens when we can be our true selves

Empowerment

You have the strength to create meaningful change

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, absolutely. Everything you share in therapy is confidential and protected by law. The only exceptions are if you're at risk of harming yourself or others, if there's suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or if I'm legally required by a court order. I take your privacy very seriously.

Individual and trauma therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. Couples therapy sessions are 60 minutes. We can discuss different session lengths if needed to best support your goals.

I'm currently an out-of-network provider, but I can provide you with a superbill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Many insurance plans cover a portion of out-of-network therapy.

I understand that life happens. Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged the full session fee, except in cases of emergency.

Online sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You'll receive a private link before your session. All you need is a device with a camera and microphone, and a private space where you feel comfortable talking.

This varies for everyone. Some people find what they need in a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We'll regularly check in about your progress and goals, and you're always free to end therapy when it feels right for you.
